Measuring about 19-20" long with a head circumference about 13.5-14", this doll simulates the average 7.5-pound newborn. Head, body, arms, and legs are weighted to give parents an idea of how it feels to hold a wiggly, squishy, snuggly newborn (actual weight averages about 4.5-pounds). Belly Button snap is compatible with the umbilical cord stump.

This plush placenta gives parents-to-be a great sense of the anatomy of the placenta without the ick-factor of blood and other fluids. The placenta is made up of both the maternal and fetal sides, with the umbilical cord extending from the center of the fetal side. The umbilical cord is covered in a translucent nylon covering, so the cord's arteries and vein can be seen and touched. The cord also contains a cream-colored clamped section and removable umbilical stump, which can be attached to the baby with a metal snap.
The placenta measures about 8 inches across, and the umbilical cord measures about 30 inches long, with a 5 inch stump.

Expandable Uterus

This uterus's ribbed cervix begins closed and dilates to just over 10 cm across. The body's ribbed design allows the uterus to expand to fit most demonstration dolls in all fetal presentations (vertex, transverse, breech). A flap at the fundus allows the educator to easily insert and remove the baby before demonstration. *Note: this design does NOT include a cesarean birth incision opening.

Latch Puppet - Baby Head and Breast

Latch is probably the most important skills in a successful breastfeeding relationship, but also one of the more difficult skills to teach -- we cannot expect a pregnant mother to practice latching a breastfeeding baby to her own breast! This Latch Puppet allows parents to practice the basics of a good latch without exposing any of their own skin. The Baby Head can be worn as a puppet, with room for an adult hand to work the mouth open and closed. The teacher or parent and can then maneuver the breast and practice proper positioning. Baby's lips splay out to reinforce proper positioning.
